Manchado and His Friends

Manchado was born with spots all over his back and one round, black spot on his forehead right between his big, soft brown eyes.

Thus begins this delightful tale of a charming little burro and the family he is born into. Set in the Sierra Madres of Sonora just south of Arizona's Mexican border, the story unfolds with Maria and Pablo overhearing that their father is going to sell Manchado due to his size and ability. But the burro, eventually proves himself a hero, winning the hearts of all and a permanent home within the family. Written in Spanish and English, this book contains a thorough glossary of terms and a pronunciation guide to help young and old learn more about both languages. The story makes an excellent supplement for bilingual education classes.
